About Us

Greater Augusta Long Term Recovery Committee

The Greater Augusta Long Term Recovery Committee (GALTRC) was formed in response to the widespread destruction caused by Hurricane Helene in 2024. In the storm’s aftermath, our community faced unprecedented challenges—homes were destroyed, families displaced, and vital infrastructure damaged. Amid the hardships, one thing was clear: recovery would require unity of purpose, coordination, and a long-term commitment to rebuilding stronger than before.

GALTRC was established as a coalition of local nonprofits, faith-based organizations, government agencies, and community leaders, united by a shared mission: to restore, rebuild, and revitalize the Greater Augusta region with equity, dignity, and resilience at its core.

Our goal is to coordinate disaster recovery efforts for individuals and families who are most vulnerable and have unmet needs following a major disaster. We work to ensure that resources—financial, material, and human—are allocated efficiently and fairly, helping residents not just return to their previous state but move forward with greater stability and preparedness.

What We Do:

• Case Management – Collaborating directly with individuals and families to assess needs and connect them to resources.

• Reconstruction & Repair – Organizing volunteer labor and skilled professionals to rebuild homes and infrastructure.

• Resource Coordination – Utilizing public and private funding, donations, and services to address critical recovery gaps.

• Preparedness & Resilience – Promoting policies, plans, and education that better prepare our region for future disasters.

Our Vision:

A stronger, safer, and more resilient Greater Augusta—where every resident has the support needed to recover and thrive after a disaster.
